General Halloween Invite Tips
All the usual guidelines apply when writing a Halloween invitation. However, there are also a few Halloween-specific tips and twists to keep in mind, such as:
1. State your costume policy. Most invitees – especially if they’re adults – will want to know whether they’re expected to dress up, so save yourself from answering lots of questions by putting it right on the invite. State your expectations clearly with phrases like wear a costume (strong suggestion), costumes encouraged (optional), or wear a costume – or else! (requirement).
2. Mention eats and drinks. Food and beverages should be addressed on any party invitation, but especially for Halloween parties. Parents want to know if their kids will be eating a meal or just treats. Adults need to know whether they should bring anything.
3. Channel the Crypt Keeper. As you can tell from the examples, we’re big fans of using Halloween-related puns and word associations. The more groan-inducing, the better.
4. Use a frightfully fitting image. Whether you’re designing from scratch, using a template, or picking a design on an ecard website, go for a bewitching look that ties in with the wording of your Halloween invite. The right Halloween-inspired picture can make all the difference.
